Hunts Point Alliance for Children

About

The Hunts Point Alliance for Children (HPAC) was founded in 2007 to bring attention to the low educational attainment of students in the South Bronx community of Hunts Point and to create urgency and provide resources to improve educational achievement neighborhood-wide. HPAC believes that instilling an early love of learning, exposure to literacy, and creating a bond between parent and child is key to impacting the achievement gap. HPAC’s Early Childhood Education team engages with families and the community through our Early Childhood Library and through programs designed to build social-emotional skills, improve relationships with caregivers, and provide interventions to build early literacy skills.  Engaging families early in literacy activities that build relationships also exposes families to the importance of early childhood education. Our programs aim to increase enrollment in 3K and UPK programs, leveraging these city investments to elevate overall educational success in our community.
